Quieter, mainly, classier perhaps

Jam Session Review of 20th July 2025

John Calamatta topped the session: Blue Bossa, Satin Doll, and I cannot remember what else, made a good start.

The general consensus was that this was a smaller but still classy little sesh: 22 jammers, including a few relatively new faces: Michelle, Ain't Misbehavin',  sang with growing confidence, John likewise; Margreta played some elegant sax, with a warm tone, newcomer Mark Havryciv good on keys (note to self: check the Good Captain's typewriter, I think the keys may be sticking).

Of the more familiar faces, Mike Frost rattled the skins (brand new!) with growing panache, Spike was the pick of the drummers, if a little loud on occasion, and Bruce Madigan seems to have stepped up a notch. Bass lines were held by Steve, and later Ivan. Mike Powell and Neville Broatch traded  guitar solos.  Steve Gilbert was all good on violin.

Of the tonsil brigade, Brigid ripped through I Thought About You, Rose impressed again, Jane and Christine kept the band honest as the arvo wore on.

... And then the Red Hatted Calamatta tailed the session in fine style: a raucous Caravan with Philip running wild on keys: whatever, it was a rousing finish to a good day.
