PENULTIMATE GOV? IT WASN'T...
Review of the Jam Session 18th January 2026 Yes, we are back at the Gov for this week and the next, and then - who knows? ​ Tempora mutantur,  as Pliny might have said, had he lived long enough to attend a Hawthorn East Jam. Which he didn't. Given his reputed proclivity for stuffing his lyre, cithara, or early form  of lute  with garden fruits and blowing raspberries, it is probably just as well we are moving on.... or am I thinking of someone else? ​ So - two more sessions at the Gov, and...

Getting There
Review of Jam Session 7th December 2025 Well, that was a smooth one...mostly. ​ Twenty musos got up and variously warbled, rattled, tweaked, tugged and tickled their way through a bright but tastefully restrained cacophony all arvo - the sun shone, the glass doors were open, the sound was exceptionally better, the stage had magically shrunk, and on the big screen, the poms took forever to get out. They probably need a rain-stopped-play every 20 minutes or so to remember where the dressing...

Wot, No Jam?
Last Sunday's jam was idyllic: nobody gossiped, everyone there let everybody else have a turn or three, we didn't play  Autumn Leaves , or Summertime,   all the singers sang in tune, all the tunes were fresh, and the guitars were almost as restrained as the saxophones.... all the beers were on the house,  the barkeep didn't complain about the noise, everyone helped pack up the  gear that we used... ​ And all that, in the finest traditions of the Bendigo Heights Daily Drivel, is true. So what,...
