A quiet little Jam....

Jam Session Review for 10th August 2025

Just 16 musos for this one - Carruthers once was heard to remark "I don't like it, it is too quiet..."

Anyhoo, we had been asked by the the management to keep the racket down - apparently we had been distressing the natives  - or at least some of them. As it turned out, sans the Invy mob, the resulting jam was a cruisy affair - and a pleasant change from the frenetics of  late. We started with 10 minutes of adjustment before Marion played the opening stanza, followed by a smooth set from Anthony (peaked cap, last heard at the Vic Wine Centre, honeyed voice, you would remember him), then Jane in fine form, peaking out with Rose putting up a rocking version of Route 66. Kaori, quite probably the first Japanese bass player we have had in weeks, did enough to suggest she is going to be good,  Peter (drummer) sat quietly in the corner, but when the lone drummer did get up, grooved right in - then Lisette, back from Inverloch, magicked up the keys, and Paul (sax and tonsils) lent a blithe insouciance to the music - in a good way... props to The Good Captain, Nev and Mike for making this all run smoothly.

Carruthers need not have been concerned - this was a quiet little jam of the first order. Even the natives forgot to be restless...
