The fourth Newport Jazz Festival Australia will be held on May 3rd to May 5th 2024., and we are well into a final marketing push - letterboxing, radio interviews, giveaways (you missed it?) and a bunch of bands promoting the Festival through social media. Tickets sales are already ahead of last year, and if you don't purchase online and save a bunch of time when you get there, you can purchase at the ticketing desk in the Bowls Club. Either way, you get the lowest prices of any jazz Festival in Victoria, and a shiny new Festival Badge to wear, and it gets you access to some of Melbourne's best jazz cats.

The questions that we have been asked...

• What time does it start?: 6pm on Friday: Cheapskates get in for $25 and there some hot bands for starters. Saturday starts at 10.00am, and Sunday at 11.00am

• What does it cost? This is the lowest priced Festival in Victoria this year. You can come for a day, or all weekend.

• Can I get a concession discount? Yes, just show your card at the ticketing desk in the Bowls Club

• Are there any trad bands? Yes, heaps, if you only want to listen to trad, you will be busy all weekend.

• Is there anywhere we can dance? Yes, probably the best bet is the Main Room in the Bowls Club: traditionally noisy, a wooden floor!

• Can I bring my baby? Of course, and the baby gets in for free. 

• Can I bring my children: Yes, if they are under 16 and accompanied, they get in for free, and might score a free Festival Balloon

• If I buy a ticket, does my registered carer get in for free?   Yes, registered carers get in for free: just show your carer's card at the ticketing desk. And the Festival venues have excellent facilities for disabled patrons.

• Who are the best bands? New favourites pop up every year, so I cannot answer that question - our band selectors have listened to every band that applied, and picked the best in each genre. If you are not sure, start with  Bob Sedergreen, Shirazz, Julie O'Hara with Adam Rudegeair, the Royal Navy Jazz Band,and keep going! 

• Can I get food and drink at the Festival? Of course! The Bowls Club kitchen will be open all weekend, the Bowls Club Bar serves a decent beer, The Newport Scout Troop Sausage Sizzle will be on again, Glen's famous Coffee Van serves a seriously good coffee out the back of the Bowls Club, and there are quite a few food options in the Newport shopping strip.

Patrons

People are finding out that the Newport Jazz Festival has the lowest ticket prices of any jazz Festival in Victoria. We want everyone to be able to afford a great weekend's entertainment! There are a number of changes this year - all of them good. The Weekend Pass will be $79, a Day Pass $49, and cheapskate Friday evening is just $25 - great value for a line-up that includes 41 bands!
